Ceiling fan designs have come a long way in the past couple of years. With a more eco-conscious generation, people are shunning their energy guzzling air conditioners for the much more economical and highly efficient ceiling fans. However, no one can be expected to go green with the likes of your grandmother’s ceiling fan, complete with wood veneer blades and tiffany-style lampshades! No no, we require fans that have a lunar counterweight which, along with the fan, can orbit around it’s spherical gear housing!

The Matthews Fan Company constructs these beauties out of cast aluminum, heavy gauge spun and stamped steel, Bakelite and ecologically harvested mahogany. Each of their designs is also available in brushed nickel, polished chrome, polished copper, polished brass, dark bronze and black lacquer finishes.

The one pictured above is the Brisa 2000. Check out the Duplo-Dinamico and the Air-Ruthiane below as just a couple of the other available designs.

As in most households, grilling is the mans’ job in ours. It is regarded as seriously and as primitively as can be expected from anything involving fire and raw meat. There is much uproar, dirt, grunting and beer involved in this tribal dance and any member of the clan will tell you, there is nothing pretty about this sacred ritual. Which is why this post will likely appeal to the more refined outdoor chef. Ladies, behold the Eva Solo Gas Grill.

Perhaps a streamlined garbage can isn’t what you picture when thinking about grills, but this puppy is designed with minimalist decor in mind while addressing some issues any grill owner will be impressed with.

The most attractive feature is the creative way in which this grill hides the gas barrel within its body successfully removing that unsightly thing from view and fooling your guests into believing you’re actually grilling with charcoal, the way you’re supposed to! In addition, there is a three burner cooking top to allow for easy temperature zone adjustment, a dome lid and a flat protective lid that also converts the grill into an additional patio table. It is also constructed exclusively of stainless steel for durability and easy maintenance.

With todays’ kitchen appliances constantly taking on incredible contemporary and innovative designs, this may just be the start of a new movement to take the design of our quintessential culinary tools outdoors! Although, at $2079.95, you may be content sticking with your trusty, rusty Webber.

Holy tools, Batman! Leatherman has done it again. One of the finest toolmakers on the market has released yet another revolutionary all purpose tool. Designed to appeal to the “outdoorsman,” this multi-functional, brilliantly engineered piece of equipment will appeal to just about anyone.

Even though we already own at least 5 Leatherman tools, this one will have to also join the family. Because, seriously, you can’t have too many Leathermans.

As if Leathermans’ previous pocket knives weren’t perfect enough, this one packs a lot of punch. It’s made of stainless steel, Tungsten DLC coating, and carbon fiber to make up a mere 5 oz. in weight and 4 in. in length (when closed). They’ve stripped down the metal to it’s skeletool leaving only the bear necessities. Hence all the holes.

Features of the tool include:

* Needlnose Pliers
* Regular Pliers
* Wire Cutters
* Hard-wire Cutters
* Combo Straight/Serrated 154CM Stainless Steel Blade
* Universal Bit Driver
* Carabiner/Bottle Opener
* Removable Pocket Clip
* Bit Storage in Handle
* Phillips #1 and #2 Bit
* Screwdriver 1/4″ and 3/16″ Bit
* 25 Year Warranty

There is also a bit kit sold separately containing 21 double-ended bits.

Available at B&H for $79.95.

No, this is not Nasa’s latest invention or the concept for the next building in NYC. This, my friends, is a teapot. No, this is THE teapot! If ever there was a teapot to be excited about, this is it! Man I’ve never craved tea quite this much.

Designed by architect Joey Roth, who describes his inspiration as follows:

“I’ve always been entranced by small, beautiful things that are so detailed, they seem like miniature worlds, yet so ordinary they’re often left unnoticed. I designed Sorapot to emphasize one of my favorite- the unfurling of tea leaves.”

Yes Joey, so true. I too have always thought that there just wasn’t enough emphasis on tea leaf unfurling.

OK, so practical daily teapot this is not. Sure is perty though. You can see how it works here.

Mr. Roth is only planning on making 300 of them and you can pre-order yours for $50 today! The rest of the $129 is payed upon shipment. I’ve already pre-ordered mine so there are only 299 left – hurry!
